When I first started out along this path, many years ago, the concept of The Lifestyle Guy came to mind...
I, and perhaps you, like many people over the years who go through significant personal change, are given a second chance to begin life again - but this time by new rules. This is a veritable crossroad of life, where great things can begin to happen if you choose the correct path.
Choosing the correct path doesn’t always mean a smooth passage - I hasten to add this, but at least you know your ultimate destination is clearly in sight, which eases the journey enormously.
I initially chose the path of physical training, because unconsciously, I seemed to realise that being in a place of physical wellbeing transported me almost as if by magic to a place of spiritual wellbeing, and this is a great place to be.
This is the place where everything is clarified; everything is clear and confusion slips away. This is the place where you find yourself truly at one with everything.
I wanted to be able to pass on this “gift” of enlightenment, and teaching martial arts, at the time, was the perfect vehicle to be able to do this. With this method, the physical body and spirit have to work in harmony, and when this balance begins to be achieved, technique becomes fluid - natural. Here, the physical expression of movement undeniably conveys the quality of this harmony.
The looks on people’s faces, along with the mental and physical changes I saw in them, fanned my enthusiasm even more, and although I knew I was on the right path, something was still missing...
To begin to fill that “gap” and to be able to reach a wider audience and to also create a more “whole” package, I decided to become a Personal Trainer. At this point, I was beginning to find on my own personal journey how closely good sound nutrition was tied into physical and spiritual fulfilment, so I immersed myself in the study of nutrition.
Working with individuals on a one-to-one basis was a fantastic experience, and it was during this period that I began to put together my “formula” for weight management and physical maintenance. I was having an evolving realisation of how much could be changed within an individual, and the amazing physical/emotional/wellbeing changes which happened as a result of this work. With specific considered Lifestyle changes, extraordinary development is possible.
Lifestyle is a great word because it encompasses so many concepts, but to my mind, it means the ability to change what you want in your life, whether personal or professional, by taking control of your own destiny!
All of my courses and workshops work along the same themes, and all of them, upon inspection, “dovetail” into each other. These courses are: Personal Safety Awareness, Communication and Confidence Building, Weight Management, and Stress Management.
On the Personal Safety Awareness workshop, we cover body language, voice expression, projection, assertiveness, awareness, along with key factors in life and business.
The half-day Communication and Confidence Building course takes these factors into consideration and explores them in depth - including active role playing, enabling you to incorporate these lessons directly into your personal life and working environment, thereby immediately implementing all of these new skills.
